HIT FOR SIX: The danger zone

No major cricketing nation is unaffected by our changing climate. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Caribbean and the UK are all facing a variety of climate extremes that impact the game at all levels, from the professional to the grassroots.

FrontRunners’ new report has been produced with the British Association for Sustainability in Sport (BASIS), Climate Central, and The Next Test. In Hit for Six, cricket’s stars join cricketers of all generations to tell us how heat is changing the game they love.

Six years on from 2019’s pioneering first Hit For Six report, we’ve honed in on the impacts of the climate crisis, in particular rising heat, on a country that contains most of the world’s one billion cricket fans.

“We can’t separate cricket from the places we play in - under open skies, on natural turf, in conditions that are changing faster than ever.
It’s time cricket wakes up to the reality of climate change - not just for the future of our sport, but for the communities and countries we represent. We can’t afford to sit on the sidelines.”

– Ashton Turner, Australia (28 Tests), Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants .
